Panchanga (पञ्चाङ्ग) means "five limbs" — the five elements used to calculate auspicious times.
The lunar day, one of 30 tithis in a month. Determines the quality of the day for rituals and activities based on the Moon's position relative to the Sun.
The 27 lunar mansions (constellations) the Moon traverses. Each nakshatra carries unique energy influencing activities, rituals, and ceremonies.
The day of the week, each governed by a planetary deity. Sunday (Sun), Monday (Moon), Tuesday (Mars), Wednesday (Mercury), Thursday (Jupiter), Friday (Venus), Saturday (Saturn).
One of 27 yogas derived from combined positions of Sun and Moon. Determines the overall energy and nature of the day for spiritual and material activities.
Half of a tithi. There are 11 karanas, cycling through the lunar month. Two karanas occur each tithi, indicating the quality of each half of the lunar day.
